Stone House

This is the Stone House in the Manassas National Miliatry Park.  It is the only original building left in the park. Much of the woodwork was still original.  It was sitting in a valley in the middle of two main roads.  It was a tavern, hotel, and postoffice.  There were over 90,000 soldiers in this vicinity.

Henry Hill could be viewed from the front yard -- this is the hill where Thomas Jackson earned the name Stonewall.  Just about a mile past the house was the Bull Run Creek and the road was the escape route of the Union.

This was an interesting day, despite the fact that we were supposed to see a Civil War Reenactment, but alas we were in the wrong state.  VA not PA.

I've missed your daily pictures.
What new lens did you get?

I have still been taking pictures, but have been traveling so much that I haven't had time to post pictures. I ended up with 3 lenses: 50 mm, 18-55mm and 55-200 mm -- the last two have the image stabilization on it and I absolutely love it. I need to use my 50 mm more.
